Helping Those Who Help Our Pups

Hopefully we’re all doing the right thing as we ride out the coronavirus and socially distancing ourselves and staying home as much as possible.

Many of us are fortunate enough to be able to work from home and cuddle our dogs while still making our usual salaries.

But many others can’t do that. Walking dogs or providing doggy daycare is the sole source of income for local walkers and small businesses.

For some of them, this time of quarantine and social distancing is causing significant financial hardship.

These are the people we rely on daily to take care of our furbabies. They take our dogs in when we travel. They come into our homes to feed and walk our pets. When we have a last-minute emergency, they are the ones we call to help us out with our pups.

We have the opportunity to support our walkers and doggy daycare providers, just as they’ve supported us.

If you have the financial resources, consider talking to your dog’s caretakers about how you can help keep them in business so they’ll be able to continue walking your pet when this has passed.

The following caretakers have reached out to let us know they need support. If you would like to help them, please reach out by DMing them on Instagram.

As always, thank you for being such a strong community of local dog lovers!

”COVID-19 has completely crushed my dog walking business as everyone is home and can walk their own dogs. I’m having trouble surviving with covering basic essentials, specifically rent, food, electricity.  Anything helps DC! Go Fund Me: gf.me/u/xrtabd”

“I work as a dog walker for a local company and need to go to work as it’s my only source of income. Many of my clients are now working from home which is definitely putting a strain on things, and I’m not sure how long they will graciously allow me to walk their pups while they are home. On the other side I want to do the right thing and social distance but feel like I can’t because I live paycheck to paycheck. I feel like I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place.”
